History of Pottsville Lodge #333Galla Creek Lodge #333 was established in 1875 at Parker's Store located on Galla Creek near the water of the driven mill operated by Silas Parker. This location may seem remote now but the store and the grist mill location was on a main thoroughfare of that day. It was more direct route from Atkins to Dardanelle. The lodge has 20 charter member and the first Worshipful Master was Elijah King who served from 1875 to 1876. In 1878, the lodge moved from the second floor of the Pottsville Presbyterian Church which was located between the city park and now the Pottsville Middle Grades on Highway 247. It is unknown when the lodge moved to the Pottsville Methodist Church building, where the lodge is located now. In 1925, the lodge voted to change the name to Pottsville Masonic Lodge and in 1912, the lodge purchased the land used by the church, north of the railroad. Then in 2004, the lodge built a new building where the old two-story church once stood.
